Dating Therapy

 

You’ve envisioned a life for yourself-- and while some aspects of life feel “on track”--finding a romantic partner remains an area of uneasiness. And sometimes it keeps you up at night.

You work hard on having good relationships in your life.  You're the one who takes on the extra project at work, and you rarely hesitate to plan a friend's birthday or bachelorette party even if your in-box is full and you might not get to doing your laundry.  As a result, you do well at work and in your friendships--even if sometimes you find yourself doing more than others. But when it comes to your romantic relationships you try just as hard but it doesn't seem to work.  It looks to be easy for others and you find it difficult not to compare yourself with your friends.

 Your dating experience, as of late, has been frustrating and/or painful. Even thinking about the whole process of dating feels overwhelming and exhausting. Some days it is easy to keep a healthy perspective, but there are those days when you feel sad and overwhelmed… and you find it hard to not worry about the future.  Lately, you’ve had more of these days.  It feels like you will always be alone and that the future looks bleak.  Your past romantic experiences (the bad ones) make you think that there is something wrong with you and it’s hard not to dwell on this.

Our work is likely to include healing past relationship wounds and finding new coping and relationship strategies that work for you today.

 Ultimately, we will work together to create a personal approach to dating that is mindful of your needs and personal boundaries.
